West County Dragon, Saturday Sept. 6th
WHAT: It’s our own local
version of Deal’s Gap. We put together some of the curviest and
most scenic country roads that we could find in our own back yard.
We’ll cover 100 miles and wind through 3 counties and several small
towns including Eureka, High Ridge, Byrnes Mill, House Springs,
Pacific, Wildwood, and Chesterfield. At the halfway point, we’ll
stop in St. Alban’s at the historic Head’s General Store founded
in 1893 for a short restroom and coffee break. We’ll finish up our
run at the Hawthorne Inn in Labadie for a relaxing lunch.
WHERE: Meet at the Route 66
State Park visitor’s center, 97 North Outer Road, in Eureka, MO.
Please note that there are restroom facilities at the park and vending machines, but no gas. If you need to fill up, you can take Exit 272
(Hwy 141) or Exit 264 (Hwy 109) before coming to the park.
DIRECTIONS: From I-44, take
Exit 266/Lewis Road; follow road past West Tyson County Park entrance
to the stop sign at Lewis Road. After crossing Lewis Road, you will
see the visitor center on the left.
